How to Differentiate Between Love and Friendship

· Types of friendships

It's normal to love your friends. But how can you be sure that what you feel is not truly romantic love?

Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a friendship and love. If you feel confused, take some time to reflect on your relationship. Think of vivid examples of times when you experienced feelings of love.

You can also consider your priorities. What you're looking for in a partner? Do you want to try to take the connection to the next level? There is a way to understand this without risking the friendship.

1 Take a closer look at your friendship

Is friendship better than relationship

Evaluate the intensity of your feelings. Take some time to reflect on how strong your emotions are. You can feel many of the same things about a friend and lover, but when you're in love, those feelings can be very strong! In general, the more emotional you are towards someone, the more likely you are to feel love.

For example, you may feel chemistry with your boyfriend because you both laugh at the same jokes and find it easy to talk to each other. When you love someone, the feeling is more intense. You may feel dizzy or restless.

One way to gauge how deeply you feel for someone is to think about how you felt when you were apart. When you're in love, it's hard to be apart from someone for long.

When you're in love, you're more likely to feel special when you're around that person.

2. Watch for physical reactions

Your body can really help you understand how you feel. When you have a potential love interest, your heart rate may increase or you may feel butterflies in your stomach.

They can even get nervous and anxious. You probably won't break out laughing or sweating just hanging out with a friend.

When you meet a friend, you can be excited. However, you probably won't experience any significant physical changes when viewing or adopting them.

With someone you love, you may not be able to control how your body reacts. Your palms may sweat, your voice may shake, or your heart rate may increase.

3. Compare this relationship with others

Difference between relationship and friendship

Think about how a relationship compares to other friendships in your life. You may have many friends, but only one person is your potential love.

With this person you can value this relationship more than anyone else in your life. You may also feel a deeper connection with that person.

Perhaps you cannot imagine a day without talking to this person. With a friend, you might not mind going a week or two without meeting. With someone you love, it can seem like an eternity.
